I too think that the Sieg Long bed machine is a bit over priced ! However it is touted as a high quality mill and good quality control. But I do agree that the HM46 would be a better buy. ... I purchased a OTMT or Sieg KX3 from Traver's tool. Machine is great; however, their control software is dismal. I have used MACH3 for a year and have gotten fairly proficient. This proprietary Sieg "Fanuc" software baffles me and has nowhere near the capability of MACH3 that from what I've seen. Does anyone know anything about this software?

I think the Sieg KX3 CNC Mill is available from Novakon. Novakon is the Canadian distributor for Smithy CNC. Their benchtop machine is the SMithy 622 (which is a KX3 varient), although it looks like they are not selling the smithy control and software system and are instead offerring Mach3 and BobCAD to their customers.

Based on the same frame and components as the Sieg X3 and Super X3 mills, the KX3, at around 500 lbs., is a formidable piece of machinery. That's including the cabinet base, which contains all of the electronics, and contributes about 150 lbs. The marketing brochure lists the total weight as 220 kg, which translates to 484 lbs.

Summary. With it's larger size and greater power, the Super X3 opens up a range of work beyond what the minimill can handle. While it's similar in size to the X3, the more powerful motor, tilting head, finefeed quill control and builtin spindlespeed tachometer make this machine a step up.
